ASSIST AND THE SECURITY PROFESSION IN TEXAS

We have been informed that the Sunset Advisory Commission has set to hear issues about the Department of Public Safety on June 24 and 25 in Austin, Texas. It then will make recommendations on potential changes to the Department statutes sometime in Sept. 23 or 25. As your president, I will be there to speak on behalf of the DPS. ASSIST and the security profession have enjoyed the working professional relationship we have built with the agency.

We have had but positive input when it came to ASSIST issues. DPS has been gracious to attend all of our functions that we have set up. They continue to provide professional leadership and are simply asking for compliance when it comes to state statutes.

I sincerely hope that every member will understand working with DPS gives us all a clear some level advantage. Please submit any comments that you would want me to share on behalf of DPS.

My last word is ‘be safe’!
